Description
The photographer J. F. Lloyd was an affectionate family man. His family were his favourite subjects and his studies them are lyrical and warm. This interior view with the figure of Mrs. Lloyd in the back parlour can be compared with paintings of such domestic subjects by Bonnard or Sickert. When J. F. Lloyd died in 1937, his widow bricked up his attic studio, which ensured the survival of his photographic plates.
