Description

During the Spanish Civil War the Nationalists under Francisco Franco made frequent use of aerial attacks against their Republican opponents. This led to the destruction of many towns and cities and the deaths of numerous Spanish citizens. This photograph is part of a collection brought back to Wales by John Williams Hughes from Anglesey who travelled to Spain as a volunteer in the Ambulance Corps during the war. This photograph was taken by Luis Vidal Garrigues Photo Agency of Valencia.
