Model of a Horse Drawn Irish Cart - Car Gwyddelig, Leason, Llanrhidian, Gower, c 1890's
Description
Model of a Horse Drawn Irish Cart measured from the original by William Simmonds in 1926. Copies of Simmonds dimensioned sketches provided by Museum of English Rural Life allowed me to create a scale drawing from which the model is made. Scale 1" to 1 ft. Irish in this context does not mean built in Ireland but was used as term meaning old fashioned. Such carts were able to carry small loads of grain to market or mill or for harvest work.
