HILL MOUNTAIN ENGLISH WESLEYAN METHODIST CHAPEL

Description

Digital copy of a black and white photograph showing an exterior view of Hill Mountain Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Burton, taken by Robert Scourfield, 1996.
Hill Mountain Methodist Chapel was built in 1815 and rebuilt in 1869. The later chapel was built in the Vernacular style with a gable-entry plan and a flat-arched doorway with an overlight in the gabled porch, flanking round-arched window openings and two round-arched window openings to the returns. The ungalleried interior has a raised and fielded panelled pulpit and high pews.
