Description
This is a photograph showing just a part of the Ross Mather Police Memorabilia of Wales Collection.
Ross began collecting police memorabilia in about 1969, when he was a young Constable in the Glamorgan / South Wales Constabulary.
Some of the helmets date back to the Victorian era and the decorated truncheons / tipstaffs as far back into the Georgian (18th century) period.
The collection of Welsh related decorated truncheons (approx. 36) is a private collection which is second to none and most probably the largest of its type in the UK.
The collection, which contains items including period uniforms has been used for public displays, police 'Open Days' as well as 'hands on' items for visits to local south Wales schools.
