St Digain’s Church, Llangernyw, is reputedly inhabited by the Angelystor, an ancient spirit that appears each year on Halloween and 31 July to announce the names of those in the parish who will die shortly after. One Halloween, a tailor scorned the idea of the Angelystor and visited the church to prove the tale groundless. However, he heard the spirit speak his name, and he died later that year.
