Maldwyn Smith was born in Dowlais Merthyr Tydfil. Maldwyn worked for the Great Western Railway at Merthyr Tydfil. He had a transfer with his job, to London. Maldwyn married Maureen nee Sullivan in 1959 in London. There was an article in the London newspaper & picture of Maldwyn & Maureen in her bridal gown, moving into their new home.
