Description
Nevern Castle was built by the Norman colonist Robert FitzMartin in 1108. Much fought over between the Norman invaders and the Welsh resistance, it became an important headquarters for whoever was in occupation at the time. But in 1196, it was burned to the ground, and the site has been farm land ever since. Now it's a place of peace and tranquility, owned by Nevern Community Council, and permanently open to visitors.
