In 1971 the RAF released aerial photos taken by Cliff Robinson, two of which were used on the cover of the Radio Times to publicise a documentary on the Cold War. The programme was screened on BBC One on Tuesday 20th July 1971 @ 21.20. The front cover features photos taken by Cliff from the cockpit of his English Electric Lightning when he and another Lightning of the RAF's Strike Command, intercepted a Soviet Tupolev TU-95 Bear (it may be a maritime surveillance variant) which had entered UK airspace. First operational in 1956, the TU-95 had various roles including as a strategic bomber and remains in front line service with the Russian Air Force over Ukraine over 70years after it first flight in 1952.
