This is a copy of a photograph that was in the possession of Charles Pope a RN Stoker. Charles served between 1918 and 1945. Charles had a long career, which included service on HMS Express between 7th May 1938 and 21st June 1939. No doubt the ships cat, pictured on watch by the ships crest and name plate, was a popular member of the crew. He served on several destroyers and had kept a small collection of postcards, with photographs of RN ships. Photographs and documents relating to Charles' RN service can be viewed on line at the West Wales Veterans Archive in the Charles Pope collection. The original photographs and documents remain in the custody of the family.
