Gwaenysgor Horse
Description
Romano-British Bronze horse figurine, c.3-5th century, approx. 5cm.
The figure was excavated from the churchyard of St. Mary's, Gwaenysgor, in 1875. Despite being in the soil for hundreds of years, it's possible to still see the details of a saddle.
The exact purpose of the figurine is unkown, but it may have been a votive religious offering or part of a larger set of cavalry figures.
