This is a photograph of a new RAF Police Dog Handler visiting his new Air Dog, Sultan, during the initial RAF Police Dog and Handler training course. The picture was taken in 1989 on the Kennel range at RAF Newton. The Handlers would regularly visit the dogs, groom, walk and care for them in order to form a professional working relationship and ensure a strong bond developed.
