Description
In the UK in the 1950s the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints often purchased large houses for conversion to meeting houses and places of Sunday worship. This was true of no. 57 Conway Road in Canton (Cardiff). For approximately 10 years the house served the Cardiff branch of the church, which saw significant growth in membership and the transition from leadership by American missionaries to leadership by local converts. This allowed for the construction of a purpose-built chapel in Rhiwbina in the early 1960s - approval for which was only given by church headquarters when it was clear that there was a strong local presence in the area.
