The steel screw steamer 'S.S. Farringford', built in 1896 by J. L. Thompson & Sons Ltd.
The ship measured 325ft in length, 45ft in breadth, 23.7ft in depth and was 3146grt. The Farringford was captured and shelled in 1916 by German aux. cruiser MOWE in 44N - 12.25W, 150 miles W by N of Cape Finisterre on passage Huelva for Garston with copper ore.
This was the ship on which David Richards sailed from Barry to the Canary Isles and Argentina in 1904.
