Description

Photograph of Lady Lewis Colliery, Ynyshir from a slide. Taken about May 1960 from Upper Gynor Place, Ynyshir. The colliery closed just before the Second World War and was used to provide ventilation underground until 1950 after which it fell into disrepair. The railway from Maerdy travelled under the bridge in front of the colliery. On the opposite side of the road the waste ground on the left of the picture was the site for a visiting fun fair (now the site of the school).
