This is a copy of an original photograph belonging to Mr John Roberts RN retired. The photograph shows the captain of HMS Diadem, at Murmansk, Russia in 1944. Former Chief Petty Officer John "Bob" Roberts joined the Navy in 1943 and went on to survived four convoys, from Scapa flow to Murmansk and several actions with Kriegsmarine warships. John was a sixteen year old boy sailor, serving under Captain Clifford at the time of this photograph.
