This is a copy of an original photograph of Petty Officer John Roberts aboard HMS Battleaxe at sea. In the photograph, John is pictured teasing a crew mate with a large fish. HMS Battleaxe made repeated deployments to the North Sea and North Atlantic in 1960 to protect the fishing fleet, during a period which became known as the Cod wars. John's memories of the deployments can be heard and read in interviews that were recorded, as well as photographs and related material, online in the John Roberts collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the Peoples collection Wales website.
