County school Machynlleth 2014, now called Ysgol Bro Ddyfi. Right :- Kieran Jones, a pupil at the school carrying the Queen's baton in Machynlleth on the 28-5-2014. The Queen's baton relay was a 190,000km journey that took place in 2014 to promote the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The Queen placed a message in the baton which was carried by baton bearers to 70 Commonwealth nations and territories. The baton's final destination was the opening ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games on July 23rd 2014.
