This is a photograph of German Army officer Richard Lange. The photograph was sent to British Army Veteran Bruce McKay. Bruce served with 7 RWF in the last battles in Europe in World War two, during February to April 1945. Bruce and Richard encountered each other in a hostile exchange on the front line in April 1945, near the village of Wittlhoe. Many years later, the two former enemies were put in contact with each other in 1999, and a friendlier exchange occurred.
