Ysgoldy, Cwmystwyth
Description
In 1812/13 Thomas Johnes of Hafod had a lodge house built at the entrance to a new drive coming from Cwmystwyth. The Duke of Newcastle bought the Hafod Estate in 1832 and 5 years later had a school built on the site of the lodge house. This school was built with a boys' section on the left, a girls' section on the right and accommodation for the Schoolmaster and his family in the centre. The school was closed sometime in the late 1850s at which time it became a residence. It is now also known as 'Hafod Lodge'.
