This is a narrative account of the service career of Mr Bernard Phillips of Llanelli, who was conscripted for National Service into the British Army in 1951. The account relies heavily upon an interview with Bernard by an Age Cymru Dyfed in September 2025. Bernard was 92 years of age when interviewed. Recordings of the interview can be viewed online in Bernard's collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the People’s Collection Wales website.
