Carys Inman, Flight Wings Member - Sparc

Description

This interview is part of our Valleys Voices Heritage Project, where we spoke to staff (past and present), volunteers and community members about their experiences with Valleys Kids over our rich, almost 50 year history.

Carys first got involved with Valleys Kids through her friend Emma in college. When she first joined the drama group, she felt both happy and a bit sad because she didnt know anyone else, and it was a new environment for her. Over time, her impression has changed; she now sees Valleys Kids as a warm, welcoming place where people can make friends, step out of their comfort zones, and be themselves.

Her favourite memories include meeting new people, getting to know everyone, and having fun. She recently went on her first residential trip to Little Bryn Gwyn. Although she initially felt sad being away from her parents, she grew to enjoy it more each day and made positive memories.

Valleys Kids is important to Carys because it gives her a space outside of college and home to make friends and feel happier and more confident. She believes it is important to the wider community because it provides a friendly environment with supportive staff and engaging activities where people can connect and feel welcome.
