An interview with Ann Rundle - Valleys Kids Penygraig Volunteer
Description
Interview with Ann Rundle. This interview is part of our Valleys Voices Heritage Project, where we spoke to staff (past and present), volunteers and community members about their experiences with Valleys Kids over our rich, almost 50 year history.
Ann became involved with Valleys Kids around 40 years ago, initially bringing her daughter to workshops when she was young. Over the years, she participated in community projects, including recording headstones, fundraising events, and children’s shows.
As her children grew up, Ann returned to volunteer with the art group and Stay and Play sessions, finding the involvement to be a vital source of purpose, social connection, and emotional support, especially after the loss of her husband. She appreciates the sense of community and the opportunities Valleys Kids provides for children, keeping them engaged and off the streets.
Ann values the multi-generational impact of Valleys Kids, seeing her children and now her granddaughter take part. She recalls fond memories, like summer bouncy castle events, and takes pride in watching children grow and develop through the organisation’s activities. For Ann, Valleys Kids is more than a club—it is a social home and community anchor that spans generations.
