Andrew Coleman - Local Business Owner
Description
This an interview with Andy Coleman. This interview is part of our Valleys Voices Heritage Project, where we spoke to staff (past and present), volunteers and community members about their experiences with Valleys Kids over our rich, almost 50 year history.
Andrew first became involved with Valleys Kids around 2010, having previously been connected through Can i Gymru and the factory building. His initial contribution was creating artwork for an album using Valleys Kids’ kits. Over time, his relationship grew into a mutually supportive connection, with the building and community giving him opportunities, and him giving back through various projects.
Andrew has supported Valleys Kids in many ways, including food deliveries during COVID, covering a wide area from Ynyswen to Tonypandy, and raising funds through concerts and gigs. He has collaborated with other local organisations and individuals in the building, benefiting from advice and creative exchange.
Beyond the local community, Andrew also supports refugees in Calais, working directly in camps and using fundraising to provide aid. He values the Valleys Kids building as a hub for creativity, collaboration, and community, offering advice, art classes, and a community shop—all of which strengthen the local area.
