Description

The locomotive engines were powered by steam, provided by burning coal which heated water. Steam drove the Industrial Revolution, replacing the water and horse power that had gone before, making locomotive engines move and powering machines. Interestingly, one of the first commercial uses of steam power was to pump water from mines.
