Photograph of Mary Evans, Eleanor Roberts' grandmother.
She lived at Drws y Coed, Rhyd Ddu, and died in 1918 at 88.
Mary sent 6 of her children to boarding schools, and gave them each £1000 when they married, even though she married the farm help, and lived on a rented farm.
They built a house on Faenol land, later bought back by the family.
