Letter from Tom Thomas to Owen Ashton, 6 January 1917, while both were serving in different regiments during the First World War [page 1 of 2]

Description

This letter was sent by Tom Thomas to his cousin, Owen, from Bexhill on Sea, Sussex. Tom served in the 4th Company of the Royal Garrison Artillery and had been expecting a letter from Owen for months. He writes that he was on leave for seven days from 16 Dec [1916] but that the Battery had been in France for a month. He expects to be sent out any day and he mentions that drafts of three hundred men are going from Bexhill to Gosport every week, ready to be sent aboard. He ends his letter by sending his love and best wishes to Owen, and hopes that he will soon hear from him.
