Letter sent home from the First World War by Owen Ashton of Llawryglyn, Feburary 1917 [page 1 of 4]

Description

In this letter, sent from Thirtle Bridge Camp, Withernsea, Yorkshire, Owen thanks his parents for the letter and parcel and asks if the butter is from Penybank or Graigwen farm. He has received a letter from Evan [his brother] and is glad that he does not have to join up at this cold time. Owen himself has not yet felt very cold as he is working in the cookhouse. He does, however, complain of the long hours and of having hardly any time to sit down and eat. He will send his waistcoat home to be washed at the beginning of the week.
