Letter sent home from the First World War by Owen Ashton of Llawryglyn, 14 [October] 1917 [page 1 of 2]

Description

Owen writes to his sister of better weather after a few rough nights and days. He mentions Lizzie's good news about the war but as she has said, all they want to hear is that it's over. Owen mentions the aircraft flying over and he can hear the anti-aircraft guns
'I heard some of the chaps talking today, that they had one or two down yesterday'
Owen complains of the war
'this does not agree with me at all climbing over these sand hills, as you know I can't rush it always makes me bad'
He ends this letter by sending kisses to Mair and love to his family.
