Description

The first page of this letter is missing. Owen has not heard from those in Newtown for a long time. He says that he cannot see much sign of this 'Great War' coming to an end
'them men that is keeping this war on ought to come and stand in these places, and [see] what we have to go through for few minutes to see how would they like it'. In the Postscript he writes that it is very quiet where he is, with half an hour's walk to the village 'there is plenty of Boozers out in France, they are very near every other door'. Owen goes in to one sometimes for a drop of coffee
'it is very nice, we try and keep our hearts up and enjoy ourselves'
He tells his family that he thinks about them a lot but does not want them to worry.
