Rogers Family - Traders

This is a photograph of the Rogers family taken in 1890. One brother and seven sisters all in business, a most unusual occurrence as women did not work in those days. Back row from left to right are: Mrs Sarah Roberts, landlady of the Bridgend Inn in Brynaman, Josiah Rogers, Shoe Shop, Brynaman, Mrs Ann Caruthers, Shoe Shop, Ammanford, Miss Mary Rogers, Tea Merchant, Garnant. Seated from left to right are, Mrs Catherine Lewis, Clothes Shop, Llanelli, Mrs Margaret Williams, Dan-y-Bryn Shop, Garnant, Mrs Lucy Jones, Bridgend Inn, Ammanford and Mrs Elisabeth Evans, the Brynaman Hotel.
