Heth Jones (sitting) and unknown soldier, c.1915

Description

Heth Jones enlisted with the forces in 1915. He had been a miner in Southsea pit, but joined the Army soon after his father was killed in an accident there. He joined the Garrison Artillery, survived the First World War and lived to the age of 94. After the end of the War, he worked in a silicone quarry in Bwlchgwyn and served in the Home Guard during the Second World War. He was also a member of the Civil Defense Volunteers.
