Description
Pte William Barker Jones (back row, second from right) was born at Bronwylfa, Ala Rd, Pwllheli in 1891. Before enlisting with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, he had worked as a pupil teacher, a profession to which he returned after the First World War. He became Deputy Head of Minera School. During the War, he served in France and Ypres, where he was wounded twice and survived a gas attack. He died in 1940, indirectly as a result of the gas.
