Description
Charles Butler joined the Royal Engineers and was sadly killed on 4 October 1917 as he was drilling for water in no man's land near Ieper. Charles was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his services and was buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, 4 kilometres east of Ieper, Belgium.
