David Thomas of Abertridwr on a cavalry horse

Description

David Thomas known as 'Dai Slogger' was born on Ilan Road, Abertridwr. He was a boxing trainer and a miner and was amongst the first to volunteer from Abertridwr in 1914. He served with the Royal Field Artillery - 7th Reserve Battery. He was a renowned horseman and believed to have fought at Mametz Woods. He died in June 1961.
