Description
Pte William Reardon enlisted into the 1st Monmouthshire battalion territorial force. In this picture he is holding a swagger stick, an item more commonly associated with a officer. He used to maintain posture while on the march. Pinned on the right of his uniform is the Territorial Force Imperial Service Badge. Awarded to members of the territorial forces prepared to serve overseas in defence of the British Empire.
