Description
The letter welcomes Private David Richard Williams (21/01/1899 - 23/07/1987) home after spending three years as a prisoner of war. David Richard was 16 years old when he joined the army and during his captivity he made shoes for the German army. To avenge his capture he used fewer nails than was stipulated to purposely make inferior quality boots. On his return he worked in a jam factory and as a shop worker.
