Queen Elizabeth opens the Claerwen Dam, 1952

Description

Queen Elizabeth at the Claerwen Dam in mid-Wales on 23 October 1952. Opening the new dam was among the earliest of her official engagements after becoming Queen in that year. The Lord Lieutenant of Radnorshire, Brigadier Sir Michael Dillwyn Venables Llewelyn, is shown escorting the Queen after the ceremony.
