Frederick William Griffiths had previously volunteered to the 9th (Service) Battalion the Welsh Regiment but was discharged after just thirteen days after it was discovered that he was underage. This document shows that he was later conscripted to the Royal Army Service Corps which was responsible for transport and supply of food, water, fuel and general domestic stores during the war.
