Description
This is a copy of a photograph of Alun Parry of Gwaenysgor, Clwyd who was killed in action in August 1916 at the Somme. Alun enlisted with the 1st / 4th (Denbighshire) Battalion (T.F.) of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers with his brother George in 1915. On completion of their training, the battalion was attached to the 47th (1/2nd London) Division and sent to France. The Battalion was sent to the Somme in 1916 and it was there that Alun was killed during an offensive. His brother George survived the war.
