This photograph shows Second Lieutenant Robert Vernon Carter Williams with another Second Lieutenant of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Williams served as Second Lieutenant with the 21st Reserve Battalion. These two men are both Second Lieutenants but are wearing different styles of uniform - Williams (on the right) is wearing the original style bearing his rank on the cuff, whereas the other officer is wearing the more modern style with the rank identification on the shoulder.
