Description

A letter from the Imperial War Graves Commission requesting 7/10 in payment for the inscription 'Yr hyn a allodd hwn, Efe a'i gwnaeth' (Mark 14: 8 - She hath done what she could) on the grave of Private Robert Charles Williams. Robert was born in Capel Curig in 1886 and married Ann Williams in 1913 at the age of 23. They lived at Cil Melyn, Warden Street, Llanberis, Caernarvonshire. Private 345654 Robert Charles Williams, 24th Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers served in Palestine during the First World War and was shot in the head whilst walking to breakfast on 16 July 1917, he died of his wounds. He was buried at Deir El Belah War Cemetery, Palestine - Grave D.24.
