Signal recieved by William Charles Powell, 28 June 1919

Description

Wifred Charles Powell (1898-1978) was born in Garndiffaith. Lying about his age, he volunteered for service in the Royal Navel Volunteer Reserve (R.N.V.R) and later served as a wireless operator onboard the minesweeper HMS Hambledon when launched in 1917. This signal was recieved by Wilfred on board the HMS Hambledon. The Navy in the Baltic could not celebrate the good news because the war was still on where they were.
