Dry dock, Port Dinorwic (Felinheli)

Description

As its English name (Port Dinorwic) suggests, the small fishing village of Felinheli developed as an important port for exporting slate from the Dinorwic Quarry, Llanberis. In the first instance, slates were transported to the quayside on horseback and horse-drawn trams but by 1848-9 a railway had been constructed to link the quarry and the port.
