Description

Managing hotels and guest houses was one way women like H. Pearson could earn a living in the first half of 20th century. Being close to public transport was important in the days before most people had their own cars and the emphasis was on comfort and service. Note the request to order wines an hour before they are required and also the extras like hot baths, hot drinks and coal fires!
You can also see a 1951 prospectus for this hotel.
