Pilkem Ridge, Battle of Passendale 31 July 1917 - The day Hedd Wyn was killed. He was one of 32,000 soldiers to be killed in the attack on Pilckem Ridge.

Hedd Wyn was killed at Pilkem Ridge on 31 July 1917, and is marked thus on his gravestone. The September date accompanying this photo is eroneous.
