Life cycle of the Comma, Polygonia c-album
Description
The life cycle of the Comma, Polygonia c-album butterfly. The Comma is quite common in England and Wales and it can be seen on nettle leaves from April to August. It is called a "Comma" because it has a small white, comma-shaped mark on the underside of it's wings. Julia Gunn reared this Comma butterfly in 2025 and she stayed up all night to film the emergence. It finally emerged at 7.15 in the morning of 27th August. She released it in her garden at Yr Efail, Ceinws at 25 past 2 in the afternoon on a glorious sunny day.
