Sepia photograph of the 1899 Cardiff University Tennis Club. The group of men and women are sitting outside on the grass with fencing behind them that would suggest they’re on the court. The group are posed in four rows, the front row of 6 are sitting on the grass, the second row of 11 are sitting on chairs, the third row of 9 are standing up and the back row of 7 seem to be standing on a platform or bench as they’re higher than the row in front. The women are wearing pale coloured long Edwardian dresses and the men are wearing Edwardian suits [some with boaters]. Most of them are holding tennis rackets.
