My dear friend,
Will you get the key of the wardrobe in the room near to mother’s, open my cupboard, and take from the top drawers of that little cabinet of nested drawers, the number of literature in which I have pencil marked
I am praying for a letter from you.
As for writing to Harry, I am as busy as he.
But goodbye dearest little one.

Notes on a forthcoming book on “Virgil in the Middle Ages.” I think it is No 98 or 99: but there are only about 3 there. [or did I leave it on the bottom shelf over my table? I think not.] I want it in order to open a discussion of Trench’s paper on “Virgil in the Middle Ages” at the
Davenant on Monday; so send it at once. Will you also send me a copy of Dryden, whole [illegible] I have to read? It is at the top of the smallest bookcase.
I hope you got the money safely this morning.
I am feeling rather better now physically, though still irritated a little at the way history swallows my time.
