New Swindon, Wilts.
My dearest Friend,
If you read my letter again you will
see that I meant you to
be with me at ( illegible) and it is for this that I
wrote yesterday to (illegible )
Wight. And surely I asked
you whether it would affect
Mother's plans, since she
was to sleep with you
If it wont affect her plans,
not return home for clothes.
Morgan gave me a
miserable and discourteous
afternoon yesterday at
Wootton Bassett. I should
hate to go to Spain with
him.
You may tell Mother now
of my alternative plans.
Yours
and wholly yours
Edward
PS After you have sent the vests by return, dont write
again until you hear from me,
as I may change addresses

Then you can follow me to [illegible] if I dont go to sea. If I hear from [illegible] lodger, that we can stay there; and if Morgan can’t find a ship, I will telegraph to you tomorrow at Porthcawl, asking you to come next day. It is essential that I should move very soon, for I am wearing dirty shirts and collars and my very thickest clothes, and you see my portmanteau is at the station. In any case you might send me the

Thin vests and if possible a collar at once. But I may have to go home first after all, and alter my clothing. On the very great chance of my going to [illegible] you might put any light socks of mine into your bag, together with one white shirt; and if you have still more room bring the coat and trousers of that grey suit (not flannel) of which the coat is hanging up and the trousers are in the kit bag. If you could do this I need
Really nobody here, except an imposter named Piggott, who pretends he was at Clifton College but knows nothing about it. He is now earning 16/ a week in the factory here, and is full of lamentations in Arthur style. He bores me horribly and calls 3 times a day.
I am full of projects (writing) and long for a quiet room and some [illegible],
In whose company to write - and you not far off with Merfyn if he is quiet.
Goodbye
I will write to you at your [illegible] tomorrow morning.
Kiss Merfyn for me and think of me as at your side for I am ever with you.
Ever and wholly yours
Edward
Goodbye
